Uninsured Drivers Face Towing If Stopped
|
|
Since the passage of a City ordinance making uninsured drivers subject to towing, more than 300 drivers stopped in the Beaumont city limits have had their car towed after a routine traffic stop. Texas drivers are required to provide a valid driver's license and proof of insurance if they are stopped by police. The ordinance, passed on July 18, states that police can tow and impound a vehicle that is not insured. A number of factors determine whether police will call for a tow, including but not limited to: age and physical condition of the driver; time of day and location; weather; and pets and passengers. |
